Legacy HOMES
LHA is dedicated to creating best-practices, resources, and referrals that can assist parents and guardians of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) who are interested in donating a family homes to a nonprofit housing organizations for the purpose of creating permanent supportive housing for people with I/DD. This Legacy HOMES model can 1) build a long-term stock of permanent, affordable, community-based housing across the state without the ongoing need for public dollars, 2) offer people with disabilities who live with parents or guardians a viable way for them to continue living in the family home beyond the death of their caregivers, and 3) create a stock of new long-term affordable housing options to serve additional individuals with developmental disabilities in perpetuity.
